Beyond Convention

Old Vines, New Thinking, True Expression.

Chile’s most compelling wines today are increasingly coming from small, driven producers who are reconnecting with place, heritage, and forgotten potential. Across historic regions, a new generation is looking beyond commercial convention—re-examining old vineyards, reviving overlooked varieties, and allowing terroir to speak with clarity and restraint.

Long-marginalised grapes such as País, particularly from the Itata Valley, are being redefined through sensitive farming and thoughtful winemaking. Once dismissed, País is now revealing itself as a variety capable of producing wines of finesse, energy, and depth. Masintin stands out for its remarkable País from a single-hectare parcel, offering a benchmark expression of the grape.

Alongside this, producers such as L’Entremetteuse demonstrate a parallel commitment to authenticity, sustainability, fair trade, and social responsibility—prioritising minimal intervention and honest expression over trend-driven styles. Though distinct in approach, these producers share a common purpose: to craft wines of character, integrity, and emotional resonance—qualities that define the most meaningful wines of Chile today.
